The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, founded by the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala, India, is considered one of the most important libraries and institutions of Tibetan works in the world. It was first established to house manuscripts carried out of Tibet when refugees escaped to India. The library now includes major collections of artifacts, manuscripts and other records, while also serving as a center for language and cultural education. The director is Geshe Lakhdor.
