The Green Yoga Association is a network of yoga practitioners, teachers and businesses who believe that taking care of the planet is essential to yoga practice. It’s based in Emeryville, Calif. It posts a directory of more than 100 “green” yoga studios and teachers all over the country.

Georg Feuerstein and his wife, Brenda, are the authors of Green Yoga. He studies philosophy and history and authored over 30 books on mysticism, Yoga, Tantra, and Hinduism. Georg created several learning courses made available through Traditional Yoga Studies, his wife’s Canadian educational company.

Swasti Bhattacharyya is associate professor of philosophy and religion at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. She specializes in environmental ethics, comparative religious ethics, peace studies, Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, ancient Judaism and early Christianity.

Patrick N. Allitt is a professor of American history at Emory University in Atlanta. Steven Buri is president of the Discovery Institute in Seattle. The think tank is a prominent opponent of Darwinian orthodoxy and has found many instances in which it says Texas biology textbooks are inaccurate or misleading. It also pushes school districts to have textbooks that teach the controversy over creationism and evolution.

The Rev. John Chryssavgis is author of Light Through Darkness: The Orthodox Tradition. He taught theology at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and serves as theological adviser to the Ecumenical Patriarch on environmental issues. Chryssavgis lives in Maine.

Michael Stillwater is the founder of Inner Harmony. With his partner, Doris Laesser, he led a group of Americans on a dark retreat in Switzerland in January 2006. He lives in Marin County, Calif.
