Dr. Brian S. Carter is professor of pediatrics in the division of neonatology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. His research and teaching interests include clinical ethics. Nicanor Pier Giorgio Austriaco is assistant professor of biology and instructor of theology at Providence College in Providence, R.I. He is also a Catholic priest and Dominican friar.
