The New Sanctuary Movement of Philadelphia is a coalition of about 20 groups, including churches, synagogues and ministries, that  provide sanctuary and support to immigrants in the Philadelphia area. Peter Pedemonti is the group’s co-founder and director.

The Metro Denver Sanctuary Coalition includes seven of Colorado’s faith communities working together to provide sanctuary. Two congregations host immigrants; five support their efforts. The Native American International Caucus is an ethnic caucus within the United Methodist Church that serves the approximately 18,000 Native American members of the church. The Rev. Alvin Deer is executive director and is based in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Susan Crawford Sullivan is an associate professor of sociology at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. She is the author of Living Faith: Everyday Religion and Mothers in Poverty.  She teaches courses in sociology of religion; Catholic thought and social action; women, religion, and poverty; and families and societies.

Rachel Hart Winter is the director of the Siena Center at Dominican University in River Forest, Ill. Her research focuses on Catholic ecological ethics, particularly on access to clean water as a fundamental human right.
