Maziyar Ghiabi is a professor and Director for the Centre of Persian And Iranian Studies (CPIS) at the University of Exeter. He studies politics, social history and the history of drug laws, and he is one of the co-authors of a 2018 study on Islam and cannabis.

He supports medical marijuana, but he believes Muslims should not use the drug recreationally.

Hamid Mavani is an associate professor of Islamic studies at Bayan Claremont Islamic Graduate School in Clarement, Calif. He has written about whether Islam is compatible with transhumanism.

Fazlun Khalid is the founder of the Islamic Foundation for Ecology and Environmental Sciences, which seeks to increase environmental activism within the global Muslim community.
