Offers $5,000 to $25,000 stipends for American journalists to report stories outside the U.S. that demonstrate religion crossing borders and establishing boundaries across the globe. Journalists early in their careers should submit proposals for under $10,000.  

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting is an innovative award-winning non-profit journalism organization dedicated to supporting the independent international journalism that U.S. media organizations are increasingly less able to undertake. The Center focuses on under-reported topics, promoting high-quality international reporting and creating platforms that reach broad and diverse audiences.

Media professionals from outside the U.S. may apply for $7500 travel grants to report from their home countries on issues under-reported in U.S. media.

Students at schools participating in the Pulitzer Center’s Campus Consortium program may apply for up to $2,000 for international reporting fellowships. Pulitzer Center staff work with recipients on an international reporting project. Emphasis on critical issues that would not normally receive attention from U.S. media.

Grants cover travel costs for planned international reporting projects, preferably those involving photography, radio, video and print. Emphasis on issues under-reported or unreported in U.S. media. Project work to be disseminated among U.S. media outlets.

Each fall, ten experienced journalists from around the world engage in a rigorous course of study, interviews and travel in the U.S. to gain understanding of U.S. media, politics, business, culture and more.

Foundations working to promote democracy and governmental accountability. Operations on the local level in countries around the world include initiatives for public health, justice, independent media and more. International efforts address matters such as freedom of information and corruption.

Open to journalists, public policy practitioners, activists, academics and others from around the world. Applicants propose innovative solutions to open society challenges. Full-time fellows receive a stipend of $80,000 or $100,000. Most fellowships last one year.

Fellowship to promote greater East-West understanding and freedom of the press. Print journalists ages 25 to 35 from developing countries work as general assignment reporters at U.S. news outlets.
